Eurodisney Shareholders Club

Options
Hi, I started a new thread on this subject in the hope it will catch somebody's attention.

Does anybody know the best place to buy Eurodisney shares at the moment? I would like to buy 20 to give free membership to the shareholders club?

Thanks, Angela

    hi angie, :)
you need a least 500 shares to become a member, not 20 :(

In fact you'll find its now five shares (new consolidated shares) and pay the 30 Euros for the shareholders club membership for two years or twenty shares and free membership to the club.

Selftrade seems to be the cheapest place and can be done online.

  • Thanks for that info.

I tried to set up a trading account with selftrade but because our house has a name the system was unable to verify my identity. I can send a registration form in the post and should be able to buy shares next week.

The commission will be £12.50 (I think the guy said) and no silly monthly fees. It will be a one off share purchase.

This is a great forum with so much financial advice easy to access.

    Thanks, Angela.
  • Thanks very much to my money saving friends. I bought the shares today. 20 shares cost £125 including the fee and with all the tat my kids buy we are easily going to save that on meals and shopping.

Hi trying to find companies that sell disney shares and stumbled upon this feed. What is the web address for Computashares (because on another thread they aid it was about £4 a share and £15 fee alot cheaper than the above company) if there is one and any other places to buy shares?

Looking for the same reasons as everyone else discounts after having been before and i'm already planning on going back it would be nice to get discounts:T

The share price given in the other thread was back in 2004 and that is why I pointed you to this more up to date thread. If you read this thread from the DisBoards

someone said it cost around £56 for the shares plus commission quite recently but as share prices go up and down on a daily basis you can't depend on that quote and equally the exchange rate of the Euro changes daily.

Hi, i'm just bumping this thread, we go to dlrp in three weeks and I was wondering if it will be worthwhile joining the shareholders club to get the discounts, any advice will be appreciated.
  • Just tried to buy Euro Disney SCA shares as getting discounts looks like an excellent idea - but have found that:

    - Selftrade DON'T do a 'one off trade', you pay the £35 management fee EVERY YEAR in July /August, which then includes up to 3 trades in that month, for their £12 charge of commission

    - They are a nominee broker which I think means you don't actually own the shares anyway so not sure how you'd get the benefits...

    - Barclays, next cheapest, charge a mere £13 for a trade BUT then whack you with a £12 fee for every quarter in which you DON'T buy or sell anything...

Help. anyone know anyway around this price hike? Bring back Hoodless. I'm hoping to (like the lady above) buy one-off just to offset the cost of tat and food, I travel in 4wks so welcome any suggestions!

From memory I actually used a local broker that we use for business stuff and they were very helpful although they had a struggle too being as they had to deal with a French broker I think, they well earned their commission on that small transaction.

Then the cost of transferring the 30 Euros for the shareholders card was prohibitive and I ended up getting a friend in Ireland to write a Euros cheque for me and I paid them in Euros cash. As there was no way I was going to get the card in time Disney faxed me a letter that I was able to use in the shops and restaurants. This was two years ago and it was worth it for the discount and I would imagine its worth even more now but you do have to factor in the cost of the shares etc.

I gave someone a loan of my shareholders card and never got it back but its out of date now anyway as it only lasts for two years. Might be an idea to phone the Disney Shareholders club, you'll get someone who speaks English.

Have a read of the link in my post above, go to the end of the thread for more up to date information.
