Win a bookseller for a day.... and have your collection professionally appraised by an AbeBooks.co.uk bookseller. We’re looking for the UK’s most passionate book collector – is it you?
The lucky winner will have an AbeBooks.co.uk bookseller visit their home for a day and value their collection of books for free. The event is fully sponsored by AbeBooks.co.uk and your books will be scrutinized by an expert appraiser who will issue a formal document detailing your collection’s value. The winner will also be profiled by Rare Book Review - the world’s leading magazine for anyone who loves to collect rare and valuable books. Five runners-up will each receive a year’s subscription to Rare Book Review magazine.

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>Entering is easy –simply write a short essay about your collection and why you love books, and the person who displays the most passion, and devotion, and best explains why they are passionate about collecting will win. AbeBooks.co.uk will publish the top essays online in a special collector’s section so your passion will be shared with the world.
This competition is open to anyone who collects books at any level. We won’t be simply handing the prize to a millionaire with deep pockets who can buy any book they wish – we want to hear from everyday book collectors. You could have 20,000 books or 200 books, you could collect modern firsts or books about Worcestershire County Cricket Club – tell us what’s on your bookshelves. Each entry will be judged by AbeBooks’ Richard Davies and Jeff Hudson, editor of Rare Book Review magazine, on originality and focus, and not on the collection’s monetary value.
This competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom, and closes on 1 May 2008 – good luck. Click here for the rules and regulations. We are also staging a similar competition for residents of USA and Canada.
