E: 31/03 Win Horton Hears A Who Book And DVDs

Based on the delightful ‘retro’ family story by the fascinating author Dr Seuss, comes Horton Hears a Who!. The original distinctive animation directed by the legendary animator Chuck Jones is worth the wait, coming to DVD on 10 March 2008.

Horton Hears a Who! is a bizarre story that follows Horton the elephant, who one day hears a cry for help coming from a speck of dust. As it turns out, the speck of dust is home to the ‘Whos’, who live in their city of ‘Whoville’. A ‘Who’ asks Horton to protect them from danger, to which he responds with the best message of all ‘A person is a person, no matter how small’.
In doing this, he receives nothing but torment from his neighbours, who refuse to believe that anything could survive on the speck. Horton is ridiculed and forced into a cage by the other animals for believing such nonsense. His chief tormentors, Vlad, The Wickersham Brothers and Sour the kangaroo threatens that if the Whos don’t make themselves heard… they will become part of ‘Beezlenut stew’!

Horton Hears A Who! is great family fun, perfect to watch with a hot crossed bun! This will be the perfect DVD this Easter half term for all Dr. Seuss fans, perfectly coinciding with the new CG animated version of Horton Hears A Who! which is released on 21 March and set to be this Easter’s must-see blockbuster. This fantastic new film is from the creators of the Ice Age films and features a superb cast of voices, including Jim Carey (Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty) and Steve Carrel (Little Miss Sunshine, Evan Almighty).

More fun than a hollow chocolate egg, this DVD contains some hilarious extra features including a bonus episode of ‘Butter Battle Book’ which tells the story of the battle between the Yooks and the Zooks, over buttering bread butter side up versus butter side down. And ‘Daisy – Head Mayzie’, a story about a young girl who sprouts yellow daisy’s from her head! It also includes ‘Horton Hatches An Egg’ another story featuring Horton, who is convinced by an irresponsible bird to sit on her egg whilst she takes a break.

Dr Seuss is renowned for his unique collection of books, which are among the world’s defining works of family literature, having sold over 200 million copies, and been translated in to 15 languages. The Horton series (Horton Hears A Who and Horton Hatches An Egg) are consistently among the top selling of all the Seuss titles (The Cat in The Hat and One Fish Two Fish) – generation after generation. So don’t miss your chance to see this fantastic adaptation of the story coming to DVD.
