John Niven - the A&R guy responsible for signing Mogwait and The Pernice Brothers (amongst others) has just released his novel 'Kill Your Friends'. The book is basically an expose of the world of A&R in the UK in 1997. The main character of the novel is the fictional Steven Stelfox, but the people he interacts with on a daily basis (label heads, A&R types, managers etc) are all actual people from the industry in 1997 (many of whom are in higher management positions today).
To celebrate NME.COM has ten goody bags to giveaway including t-shirts. Plus you are VERY lucky because we have also got a few wise words from the man himself, for free! Scroll down to read his top ten tips for aspiring young bands as to how to get noticed by A&R men and signed.
Login in now and enter your details for this awesome prize. This competition closes on March 30.
Good luck!
