Peppers in oil...?

Hello,

I am currently loving a Mary Berry book from the library ... but one of the recipes I have planned needs in peppers in oil. I have peppers. I have oil. Can I improvise? What do I need to do? How long will it take? Will I be able to do it before the other ingredients go off? (Saturday!):confused:

    What is the recipe? Peppers in oil are usually roasted peppers, so you could roast your own pepper in the oven or even on the gas ring, then peel the burned skin and use the flesh.

    If you tell me what the recipe is asking I might be able to help more. Otherwise, of course it is good to improvise in the kitchen, that's more than half the fun!

    sounds like chargrilled peppers
    what is it your making?
    plenty of way of doing them.
    on a grill,over a flame etc.
    if its just to skin them then you can wrap the peppers in cling film and microwave for a couple of minutes.
    leave to cool for a few minutes then peel the skin off and deseed.

    if you say what your making it will help as to what you need

    You could simply grill or roast some peppers and add a bit of olive oil or you could go to Aldi and buy a little jar of peppers in oil...

    It depends whats being used.

    If its the peppers that will be going into the recipe, then you can get peppers preserved in oil. Something like pimentos or similar.
    If its the oil thats needed, i.e. the oil has been flavoured to become chili oil, then go and buy some chilli oil, or simply add some oil and a bit of chili poweder!

    Thats my two cents anyway!

    Hello- thanks everyone!

    It's just for "pasta with prawns, peppers and a hint of chilli".

    I wrote down the ingredients, and the basic instructions but that was all!
    I happened to have some red peppers and didn't want to splash out on a jar of posh peppers! I will try the cooking and skinning method- many thanks

    i would personally just sweat off sliced peppers
