CCJ's FAQa

I have searched DFW and discovered that there is no one place to the many questions regarding County Court Judgements, so thought it would be an idea to put them in one place.
Firstly the questions, if any one thinks of any more let me know and then I will cut and paste into one informative Post. I will cut and paste the answers from those in the know to the questions.
1 What is a County Court Judgement?
A County Court Judgement is a judgement issued by the court when you have failed to make the payments stated in the contract of your credit agreement. The courts then set an affordable regular payment based on the individual's circumstances.
2 How does it affect your credit rating?
Your CCJ will appear on your credit file for 6 years (if it takes you more than 6 years to repay the CCJ, the creditor will re-register it with the credit referance agencies. However, your credit rating will already be affected by the fact you have not paid the contractual payments, which has resulted in you receiving a CCJ. Your CCJ won't show on your credit file if you pay it in full within 30 days.
If you manage to clear the CCJ within 6 years you can write to the credit reference agencies enclosing a "letter of satisfaction" from the issuing County Court to have the entry marked as "satisfied" on your credit file. This may be useful if you are applying for a mortgage, for example,
3 How long does a satisfied CCJ stay on your credit file?
4 How long does a unsatisfied CCJ stay on your credit file?
5 Can a CCJ be statued barred?
6 Can you CCA a CCJ?
7 Is a satisfied CCJ automatically removed from your Credit File?
8 Is an unstatisfied CCJ automatically removed from your Credit File?
9 How do you remove a CCJ from your Credit File?
10 A CCJ would jeopardise my job what can I do about it. (Apply for a Tomlin Order)
11 Can I set aside a CCJ?
12 Can a CCJ be in Joint Names?
13 I can't afford the payments for my CCJ, is there any way I can reduce them?

The answers to a lot of those questions are in the FAQ page on the website of the 'Registry Trust', who maintain the "The Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines".
