at the same time, to travel the same journey.

Car A travels at 50mph and car B travels at 40mph.
If car A stops after 250 miles,
how long will it take car B to catch up?

Answer: 1 hour 15 minutes :D

    1,000 Posts Combo Breaker
    A will take 5 hours to go 250 miles
    In that 5 hours B will have gone 200 miles and will have to travel another 50 miles.
    At 40 mph it will take B another 1 hour 15 mins to travel those 50 miles.

    Anyone agree?

    Croeso. I thought it was so simple compared to some other problems they've given in the past, so much so I was waiting for someone to say that I'd lost the plot and was totally wrong. Chuffed I was correct.
