Prepare for a Surrey sporting spectacle as Sandown Park hosts The Gold Cup Meeting on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 April 2008. The award winning racecourse holds not only their first race meeting of the 2008 Flat season, which includes a Derby trial, but also the final race of the Jumps season, including The Gold Cup.
Crowds of more than 15,000 will descend on Sandown Park over the two days and the big race itself attracted more than 2 million viewers when screened live on Channel 4 last year - one of the most popular televised meetings of the jumps season.
The Saturday's carnival atmosphere will also be rounded off with live music from the super-group, 'The Saw Doctors'. The band has a fantastic following and holds the record for Ireland's biggest-selling single of all time, "I Useta Lover". They will take to the Parade Ring stage immediately after racing and play until 6.45pm.
This two day fixture is the highlight to the racing jumps calendar and one of the most popular jumps race meetings in the Surrey and London area. Horses who may have tackled the Grand National fences at the start of the month will be in action for their final appearance of the season.
