Competition closes 17/03/08
Deepest Blue return with another dose of dance floor delirium… Chart topping dance duo, Deepest Blue, are back in the 08 mix, with a killer tune that is bound to blow the speakers round clubland in the new year. Already causing an early buzz in the key record boxes, production whiz Matt Schwartz and frontman Joel Edwards once again up the dosage with ‘Miracle’ (Out April 14th on Destined Records), an eight minute club banger that screams chart success. Coupled with a filthy, electro house remix by The Drill and we’re all set for some heavy duty rotation.
Already a household name within the dance community, Deepest Blue stormed onto the scene in the Summer of 2003, with their debut single ‘Deepest Blue’, a classy and commercial vocal house cut which rocketed straight to number 7 in the UK charts. The duo’s next single, ‘Give It Away’, reached number 9 and number 2 in the airplay charts. They later released their debut LP, ‘Late September’ in 2004, which sold over a quarter of a million copies.
In 2005 the boys decided to take a break from Deepest Blue to pursue various solo projects. Matt continued to produce club hits from his own label, Destined Records. Often recording under various guises, he hit the right notes with Dada’s, ‘Lollipop’, featuring Kings Of Tomorrow legend, Sandy Rivera. Championed by Pete Tong, this old school electro, new wave hit shredded the floors last Summer. Not content with just one hit single, Matt also put together The Drill’s, ‘The Drill’, a bassy electro tech stomper that was picked up by Tiga and Erol Alkan and was arguably the biggest tune of Summer 2005.
Joel went on to remix a few tracks under the name of 'Dead Guys' for Blondie, Lamb, Chicane and Texas. He later went onto record a solo album, 'Lost And Found', for Mercury Records. Working along side jazz legend George Fame he also worked with members of the Van Morrison band.
Already a favourite amongst various luminaries like Pete Tong, Eddie Halliwell, Sister Bliss, Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto, Deepest Blue have mixed up a new batch of their musical formula for chart success in the form of ‘Miracle’ - the new single taken off the duo’s forthcoming album out later in the year. With a bunch of live UK and international dates lined up in 2008, Deepest Blue are well and truly back... Watch them explode.
To give you a taster of what’s in store over at Destined Records HQ, we’re giving away five 12” inch hit singles from the label’s back catalogue, including chart stormers like Dada’s Lollipop and The Drill’s One Night Only. For your chance to get your electro house mitts on this bag of treats just answer the simple question.
