Divorce and Mortgages

Currently going through a Divorce which will leave me £12-£15k in debt. Moving back with family. Can anyone help with advice on whether its best to get consolidation loan before I apply for a mortgage, when I get a mortgage or after I get a mortgage. Will start looking for a somewhere to live in about 3-6 months time.

Not a qualified guess but maybe after as they may give you less of a mortgage if you already have a big loan, why not look into doing a 0% shuffle instead of a loan, read-up on stooxing on the credit card board.

It's an either or situation. It does not matter whether your debt is on a loan or credit cards you will have to declare them on your mortgage application form and this could affect the amount you can borrow for mortgage purposes.
