Win dinner for two and a night at The George in Rye

Waiting to be discovered across a warren of buildings dating from the 16th to the 19th century, The George is a stylish coaching inn that sits in the heart of medieval Rye. After years of neglect, new owners Alex and Katie Clarke recently took this hotel, restaurant, pub and regency ballroom through a complete renovation. Sensitively restored to make the most of the buildings' historic fabric, The George is now a seamless blend of old and new, furnished with contemporary English design, carefully chosen antiques and home comforts.

Each of the 24 bedrooms and suites are unique and idiosyncratic, with sloping floors, hidden corners and beamed ceilings. Offering original and thoughtful dcor, all rooms have the same attention to comfort and are kitted out with Frette Italian Linen on Vi-Spring beds (with Tivoli radios in arm's reach), Lefroy Brooks bathrooms and great quality showers and marble-topped baths. Some suites have the added luxury of large walk-in showers and roll-top baths big enough for two.
The views outside are just as magical; rooms look onto either the pretty courtyard garden or Rye's historic, higgledy-piggledy rooftops. Downstairs, the dining room offers modern Mediterranean menus from Head Chef Rod Grossman, previously at London's Moro restaurant. Rod's food celebrates each month's star ingredients and locally produced food, especially Romney Marsh Lamb and fish from Rye Bay. Dishes might include dressed crab with sourdough toast and local leaf salad, slow roasted belly of pork with roast vegetables and apple sauce and Rod's famous chocolate, almond and armagnac cake. Next door The George Tap, the hotel's own historic pub, serves plenty of local ales, English wines, and lighter food during the day.
For guests who make it out of their cosy retreat, The George in Rye has developed a number of special interest breaks that include Sussex Garden Tours, visits to local vineyards and day trips to Le Touquet in France. In-room Aveda massage treatments are available for those needing a pick-me-up, while the starkely beautiful Camber Sands beach is only four miles away for long coastal walks.

The George is above all a hideaway - a cosy and comfortable base for a retreat and recharge. And if the squidgy sofas, rolltop baths and super-comfy beds are anything to go to, it's a place you may have to drag yourself away from at the end of your stay. From £125 per night for a standard double (www.thegeorgeinrye.com).
All of the hotels have fabulous reputations for their accommodation. We know that every reader will want to enter this competition and have a chance to win a night of sheer luxury and indulgence for two at one of three of the county's most sought after hotels.
We've teamed up with The George in Rye to offer readers the chance to win a luxury one night stay for two in the hotel, plus dinner in the dining room and breakfast (Sunday - Thursday only, exc public holidays).
