Have you been keeping up with the latest storyline on Hollyoaks involving character Summer Shaw? This week viewers saw her leave Hollyoaks with OB to audition for The Sound of Music but little did we know that the real actress Summer Strallen who plays her has actually been offered the role of Maria in real life! KEEPING SECRETS
As Summer Shaw heads for the bright lights of London for her new role as Maria in The Sound Of Music, Summer Strallen, the actor that plays her, will be doing the same as HOLLYOAKS merge fiction with reality. Channel 4 spoke to Summer about how she’s managed to keep the news a secret, she said: “It’s has been awful and so hard to keep a secret. In the West End a rumour will get around in a minute because it is such a close circle of people. In the beginning had to sign a confidentiality agreement and the only people who knew were my boyfriend and my best friend and they were the only ones who knew for about two months. My mother only found out in November, but my family are all incredibly proud.”
KARAOKE
To celebrate Summer’s new role, E4.com are running HOLLYOKE, a new competition with some exciting prizes. HOLLYOKE is a karaoke competition where you pick one of the five karaoke songs from E4.com and upload your performance of that song. The performance only needs to be about one minute long and don’t worry if your singing voice isn’t up to much, it will be judged on creativity and effort alone. Members of the HOLLYOAKS cast will be watching the performances and reviewing for themselves!
TOP PRIZES

The shortlist of winners will be put together on 15th February and three finalists will win the chance to appear on T4 and win tickets for themselves and a guest to see the gala performance of The Sound Of Music on the 3rd March 2008. The overall winner will receive a once in a lifetime chance to visit the HOLLYOAKS set at Lime Pictures and be an extra for the day, a dream prize for any HOLLYOAKS fan. This competition is not to be missed so start practicing your performance and upload your video now!
