Paramount’s claustrophobic horror movie 1408 was one of the finest films shown at this year’s FrightFest celebrations, it’s also one of the boldest adaptations of a Stephen King story that we’ve had in a very long. John Cusack stars as Mike Enslin, a sceptical horror novelist who receives a postcard provoking him to spend one night at the notorious Room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel. When he arrives Enslin ignores the grave warnings of hotel manager Samuel L Jackson, a warning he will regret for the rest of his life.
