Win a dream holiday to The Bahamas
New Year blues: we all get them. The sudden, dramatic end of those cosy, warm, long autumn evenings by the fire and the excitement, stress (or inebriation) of the Christmas period catch us out each year. Inevitably we blindly stumble into the New Year and realise three things: it's cold, it's wet and we want to be on holiday.
The period between January and the end of February will see weary Brits booking almost 12 million trips abroad. While some of these will be of the snow-based variety, the majority will be aiming for somewhere hot and sunny - somewhere that promises days of relaxation, cocktail in hand, on a white sandy beach, only interrupted by such fun activities as snorkelling, scuba diving or dolphin spotting. And nights spent feasting on the finest local food and beverages while witnessing spectacular sunsets and dancing into the early hours.
The Bahamas is an ideal destination for those suffering from New Year gloominess. With a temperature averaging 25C from September to May and a host of attractions beyond simple sun-worshipping, the 700-island archipelago offers visitors a huge choice when it comes to filling their days.

Choose from a host of water- and land-based sporting activities, or visit some of the 700,000 acres of national parks or the world's largest open-air aquarium. With stunning, clear blue seas and deserted beaches providing an extraordinary backdrop, the island is popular for weddings and honeymoons, and is home to over 1,000 diving sites. The Bahamas offers adventure seekers, couples and families alike a fun and exciting holiday.
If all that sounds like the sort of thing you'd rather be enjoying instead of the daily slog to work every morning, then enter our fantastic competition to win a holiday for two to The Bahamas, brought to you in association with The Bahamas Tourist Office and courtesy of Virgin Holidays. The winners will stay at the four-star Bluff House Beach Hotel, situated within the Abacos Islands of The Bahamas. Bluff House Beach Hotel offers outstanding views of its own beach to the west and the sheltered marina of Green Turtle Cay to the east. The hotel's informal atmosphere comes alive around its harbour-side bar and restaurant, complete with its own pool and sundeck. And each week there is live music at the beach barbecue.
Explore the beautiful beaches by renting either a golf buggy or a little boat, or take the hotel's courtesy bus to the nearby historic village of New Plymouth for a day's exploration around it's quiet and friendly colonial streets.
