It’s hard to believe that so much snow and sun in such an unspoilt environment can be found just 90 minutes from Zurich. Boasting four new valley runs, 70% at an altitude of between 2,000 and 3,000 metres, this is amongst the most reliable destinations in Europe for a snow-sure winter.
A traditional alpine village from afar, closer inspection reveals a more contemporary look to Laax – the resort’s terrain parks are among the best in the Alps, and a closely guarded secret amongst those in the know.
One glance at the 220 kilometres of slopes, and the mountain restaurants and après-ski bars is enough to see that LAAX has plenty for everyone, from families or singles and snowboarders to winter hikers or freeriders. LAAX offers an impressive infrastructure, with 220 kilometres of pistes and 27 lifts, with the capacity to transport in excess of 40,000 passengers an hour. The wide, white expanse offers genuine variety, with runs for every level - the long, tree-lined descents suit intermediates, while experts head off piste to the Cassons area.
Visitors can now enjoy the skiing even more with the introduction of snowmaking on the new valley run down to Flims, and night skiing down to LAAX.
Skiers with high culinary expectations will enjoy the mouth-watering cuisine of Das Elephant and trendy atmosphere of the Riders Palace.
