- PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Happy Office Makeover (the "Contest") is a skill contest in which participants will compose a 250 word essay explaining why happy people are important to their organisation. The Contest begins at 12:00 p.m. GMT on January 7th, 2008 and ends at 11:59 p.m. GMT on February 29th, 2008. Entries received after this time shall be disregarded. - HOW TO PARTICIPATE/WINNER SELECTION:
To enter, access the Happy Office Makeover website online at www.hp.com/uk/happieroffice. Complete the online entry form, and type your essay, which may be up to, but not exceed 250 words in the space provided and click "submit". Entries may only be submitted by individual entrants. "Group" entries representing the work of more than one individual will not be accepted. Only one entry is permitted per person. Multiple employees of a single company may enter; however, entry submissions must be created solely by the individual entrant and must be unique. Entries received by multiple entrants that contain duplicate essay submissions (as determined by the Sponsor) will be disqualified. Proof of submission of entry materials does not constitute proof of delivery. No entry materials received by the Sponsor or Promoter will be returned. Neither the Sponsor or the Promoter accepts responsibility for lost, late, illegible, garbled or misdirected entry materials, or for any computer, online, telephone, human, or other error or for any technical or other malfunctions that may occur. No mechanically reproduced, illegible, incoherent, unusable, or incomplete entries will be accepted. Proof of e-mailing or submission does not constitute proof of delivery. All information is collected in the United Kingdom. Prizes will be awarded to and received by the Company that employs the entrant at time of entry.
Determining Finalists:
No later than March 7th 2008, all eligible submissions received will be screened by a panel of judges (one or more of whom shall be independent), who will score each entrant's submission based on the following judging criteria: A) Presentation,Commitment, C) Potential (each as further described below), each of which will be weighted. The judges will choose the five (5) highest scoring entries, which will become the Finalists.
A. Presentation:
You articulate your challenge clearly and succinctly, with logical thought progression. Your vocabulary usage is correct and appropriate.
B. Commitment:
The passion and commitment you have for your business comes through in your entry. It is clear to our judges that your business is not just a job for you. It is a way of life and you are committed to making it even better and more efficient than it already is.
C. Potential:
You have a strong vision of what you could achieve if you had additional expertise, resources, time, or money and you convey this clearly in your entry.
Determining Winners:
All Finalists will be screened by a panel of judges (one or more of whom shall be independent), on or about March 21st, 2008, who will score each entrant's entry submission based on the judging criteria set forth above. The highest scoring entry will be deemed the Winner and will receive the Grand Prize.
In the event of a tie during any round of the winner selection process, all tied entries will be re-judged by additional judges who will score the tied entries based on the criteria listed above and such additional judges will break the tie. The judges' decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.
All prizes will be awarded provided a sufficient number of qualified eligible entries are received. The Winner will be notified by mail and/or e-mail no later than March 26th 2008. Non-selected entrants will not be contacted. Should a potential winner decline the prize offered for any reason whatsoever, the next-eligible highest-ranking entry will be deemed the winner of that prize. - PRIZES:
One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded to the Winner: A business evaluation from an HP expert & independent Happiness Consultant plus a prize package of mobility products and installation worth up to £10,000. Total Approximate Retail Value of the prize = £10,000. Any applicable taxes on the prize or expenses not listed herein are the sole responsibility of the winner. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if entire prize or a portion of the advertised prize is unavailable for any reason. No barter, transfer, or assignment of any prize permitted, except by Sponsor at its sole discretion. The HP Expert will be designated and provided by the Sponsor at their sole discretion. The prize will be awarded to the Winner's Business on his/her behalf. Some restrictions may apply and all terms and conditions of the prizes offered will be furnished at the time of prize award. The winner may be required to participate in promotional activities. - ELIGIBILITY:
This trade promotion is open only to full or partial owners or authorised employees of a "Small Businesses" who are legal residents of the UK 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. "Small Businesses" are defined as business organisations with 100 employees or less with annual revenues of £12,000,000 or less. Employees of Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft Corporation, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, prize suppliers, promotion, advertising and promotional agencies (including Tidalwave), and the immediate family members and persons living in the households of each are not eligible to enter. - GENERAL CONDITIONS:
Entries must be executed solely by entrant and if selected, the entrant represents that he or she must have created it individually and the right to submit it must not be restricted in any way. All submissions must be in English. Entry submissions cannot defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or proprietary rights. Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party's pre-existing work does not qualify as entrant's original creation. Entry submissions may not be offensive, as determined by judges in their sole discretion. If the entry submitted includes likenesses of third parties or contains elements not owned by the entrant, entrant must be able to provide legal releases ("Releases") for such use including Sponsor's use of such entry, in a form satisfactory to judges. Releasees are not responsible for typographical errors or any other errors in entries submitted. Entries not complying with all rules are subject to disqualification. Each selected Finalist grants to Hewlett-Packard & Microsoft (including its affiliates, employees, agents, and contractors) and the Contest judges an irrevocable, royalty free, fully paid up, worldwide license to use, review, assess, and otherwise analyse the entry and all its content in connection with this Contest. Hewlett-Packard & Microsoft shall be free to use for any purpose the residuals resulting from access to or work with the Finalist's entries. The term "residuals" means information in intangible form, which is retained in memory by persons who have had access to the entries, including ideas, concepts, know-how, or techniques contained therein. Hewlett-Packard & Microsoft shall not have any obligation to limit or restrict the assignment of such persons or to pay royalties for any work resulting from the use of residuals. However, this paragraph shall not be deemed to grant to Hewlett-Packard & Microsoft a license under the Entrants' copyrights or patents. Permission is also granted for Sponsor and Promoter to promote and disclose Winners and Finalists Entries in perpetuity in any medium it may see fit including, but not limited to, website, television, radio and/or printed materials. Entrants shall not receive any compensation or credit for use of entries, other than that disclosed in these rules. Entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions of the Contest. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for Hewlett-Packard & Microsoft and its agents to use winner's name and likeness and winner's company name for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. - INTERNET:
The use of any automated launching or entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that permits the participant to automatically enter repeatedly (as solely determined by Sponsor) is prohibited. - WHO WON:
Details of the prize winner shall be available upon written request by mailing a self addressed stamped envelope to: Tidalwave, 1-3 Elsinore Way, Lower Richmond Road, Richmond, TW9 4LS.
