Ellen Kent and Opera International returns to the Bristol Hippodrome from February 28 until March 1 with Madama Butterfly and La Traviata, boasting beautiful sets and costumes and a large live orchestra.
Back by popular demand, the Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa will be performing both productions as part of their 120th anniversary tour.
Madama Butterfly, which features Korean and Japanese sopranos and authentic kimonos, tells the heartbreaking story of a beautiful Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant, with tragic consequences.
La Traviata, the operatic version of La Dame aux Camellias, stars Maria Tsonina as the passionate courtesan Violetta.
Andriy Perfilov will play Pinkerton and Alfredo.
Ellen Kent also introduces a new Korean soprano, Elena Dee, who will sing Cio Cio San.*
