As New Year fitness fever takes hold, more people venture out in the dark as exercise is on everyone’s mind. Personal safety guru Fay Goodman has teamed up with Energizer, the leading torch manufacturer to provide an essential guide to keeping safe during the winter months. Recent research conducted by the company revealed that safety is our most important concern in the dark and that 57% of people are worried about even walking home at night.
According to Fay, a leading authority on personal safety, crime prevention, and martial arts; “There are a number of simple precautions we can take and skills we can develop to improve our personal safety and minimise the risk of being a victim of crime”. Fay’s top tips for keeping safe are:
• Always carry a personal alarm with you, a lightweight option that clips on to your clothes is ideal for exercising. Keep it handy and ready to use. Personal alarms can also effectively assist other people who may need our help. Noise causes a distraction and can give us those vital seconds to escape
• Minimise the risk of being a victim of crime by acting assertively and by projecting positive body language. When approached by someone who is acting suspiciously, keep a safe distance out of reach and protect your space
• Never take risks that could compromise your own or someone else's safety - be aware, prepared and responsible and always think ahead when planning your journey or exercise route
• Always carry a torch or a light of some description with you. This versatile device can offer visibility, identify who or what is approaching and guide the way
In response to this latest advice and personal safety research, Energizer has developed a Personal Alarm and LED Light. This compact and stylish alarm is a combination of the two most essential safety devices. Its lightweight nature makes it perfect for carrying at all times while the convenient clip allows it to be fastened onto a handbag or belt buckle for instant access whenever you might need it. The bright white Nicha LED has over 2 ½ hours of run time.
Energizer has launched a www.safetyinthedark.co.uk website which contains a comprehensive list of safety tips from Fay Goodman for keeping individuals and their families safe in the dark. An interactive element on the site allows users to download a wallet sized cut-out-and-keep card for storing three important telephone numbers – an essential item for emergencies or when the mobile runs out of battery.
Question: What is the name of Energizer's safety campaign?
Answer: Safety In The Dark
Good Luck
