Teeth/Jaw problem?
mae
Hi, my son is 16 and we have noticed that his bottom row of teeth sit further forward than his top row of teeth? Its not very noticeable its just recently I have noticed it when he is talking.
Should I be worried about this? Can something be done about this?
Should I be taking him to the dentist or doctor?
If Toothsmith or anyone else are about I would be grateful if you can help.
Thanks

If it's not worrying anybody looks wise, don't be too concerned. It's not likely to cause any fuctional problem.
It's called a Class III bite.
Class I s are 'Normal' Class II s are your Cilla Blacks and Ken Dodds (In the extreme), Class III s are your Bruce Forsyths and Jimmy Hills (In the extreme)
It's just different types of skull shape.
I'm assuming that he has a regular dentist? If not then he should have. Just ask about it next time you go and you'll get a more detailed assessment.
Jaw relationships can be altered or corrected, but that's really only necessary if problems are anticipated, and more often than not, no treatment is required. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks for that I will mention it to his dentist when he goes in February and also he is going to see his doctor for his Klippel Feil so I will mention it to him also, just in case so all angles are covered.
Thanks again0 -
Don't talk to the Doctor about it!!!!!
They haven't got a clue on anything gob-related! They have one 2 1/2 hour lecture on the mouth in their entire training! (Or at least that's all the Manchester Medics got)
If you think that's bad - they didn't do anything at all on feet! How to find a dentist.
