NME_Logo_TOUR_White_316x189.jpg50 tickets up for grabs to see Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2008 at a Carling Academy near you!
<FORM action=CGG_NME_Jan08.html method=post><INPUT type=hidden value=143 name=competition_entry> We've got a mammoth stack of 50 tickets up for grabs for the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour featuring The Cribs, Joe Lean and the Jig Jang Jong, Does It Offend You, Yeah? and The Ting Tings and this is your chance to win a pair. All tickets include a few free pints of cold Carling at the gig for you and your mate so make sure you log-in or register now for your chance to win.
Every year the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour sends out four of the hottest up and coming bands on the road and this year the line-up is as impressive as ever. Wakefield's The Cribs had an incredible year in 2007 gaining their first Top 20 hit with 'Men's Needs' from their third album 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever' produced by Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos. The trio are made up of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross Jarman and have made a name for themselves over the last few years with their explosive and riotous live shows. London band Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong only played their first gig a year ago but are already being touted as the one to watch for 2008. The band released their debut single 'Lucio Starts Fires' last October and spent 2007 on the road sharpening their live show with the likes of Babyshambles, CSS, Kaiser Chiefs and Dizzee Rascal.
Does It Offend You, Yeah? Hail from Reading and have many admirers in the industry such as Muse and Bloc Party both of whom they toured with last year. The four-piece are also known for their remixing skills having given The Raconteurs, Bloc Party and Muse tracks the Does It Offend You, Yeah? touch. Last but in no means least are Manchester's fast-rising duo The Tings Tings. Jules De Martino (drums, vocals) and Katie White (vocals, guitar) formed in a music commune in Salford names The Islington Mill and quickly became the name on everyone's lips in the Manchester party scene. With support for their debut singles 'That's Not My Name' and 'Fruit Machine' from 6Music DJ Steve Lamacq and a slot at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival last summer, the band went on to tour with Reverend & The Makers before landing the opening slot on the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour.
