If someone offered you free flights to anywhere in the world where would you choose? Christmas is on the way but this isn't a suggestion for a parlour game to plug the gap between the Queen's speech and passing out facedown in a mince pie, it's a question you could soon be answering for real, thanks to Emirates.
Been there, Guardian Unlimited's user-generated travel tips site, has teamed up with the airline to offer one lucky winner a pair of economy class return tickets to the Emirates destination of their choice. The list of places served by Emirates reads like a who's who of major world cities - Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Mumbai, New York, Sao Paulo, Sydney and Toronto to name but nine - so, with this competition, the world truly is your oyster.
We reckon the best way of deciding where to go is to browse Been there - after all, it's a guide to the world as travelled by you. We've already got over 14,000 tips on over 1000 places from Aarhus to Zug and if something catches your eye and Emirates fly there, you could too. Perhaps crazy tales of German beer halls in Bangkok will get you in a Thai frame of mind, or maybe you fancy going somewhere completely different and getting away from the usual tourist routes? Maybe your interests are more cerebral and you want a holiday where you broaden your historical knowledge or even your culinary horizons?

Wherever you want to go, all you have to do to be in with a shout of booking your golden ticket is share your travel expertise and experience by posting a tip on Been there. It can be about anything - hotels, restaurants, bars, walks, views, museums, beaches - absolutely anywhere in the world. To post your tip, you'll need to be registered with Been there, which only takes a minute or two and can be done here. After posting your tip, return to this page to tell us a few further details about yourself and then it's time to keep everything crossed. The Been there team will pick a shortlist of the ten most interesting, useful and original tips. This selection will appear on the site and the winning tip will be chosen by the Guardian Unlimited Travel editor. Don't forget to take a look at our new addition, Been there on business. It has great tips, podcasts to help with overseas etiquette, and another competition, this time for business class flights to Dubai. So there's two great getaways up for grabs - one for indulging your inner adventurer by exploring an off-the-beaten-track destination, and one for taking in a major city in business-class style. And in case you're wondering: yes, you can enter both competitions and double your chances of winning...
