Hi
Can anyone tell me if this PC from Lidls is worth the money?
It goes on sale this Thursday 9th and seems to be pretty good.

Seems good , the only thing I don't know about is:
- reliability of that manufacturer (though the 3 year guarantee reassures me - check what the nature of the support is though eg do they come to your house)
- whether that graphics card is up to scratch
Bottom line with PCs at the moment though is many will be out of date within 12 months which is when the next version of windows is out. The next version of windows (code name Longhorn) seems to have some great features. Soon you will see PCs which are badged as ready for the next version of windows. So if you can, hold on from forking out 800 pounds now, and wait until next year.0 -
hi m8. the pc you are on about looks and sounds like a top pc and for that price i dont think you will get one much better then that. The next version of windows (code name Longhorn) should be work on it too0

I worked it out quickly and the bits would cost a bare minimum of about £620 to put together yourself- not including speakers, keyboard etc. To get it all pre-assembled, with all the software, and a three year warranty for that price is a good deal IMO.
The graphics card is apparently between a 6600 and a 6600GT in performance terms- which means it'll play all the latest games fine, albeit at medium resolution. The A64 3500 is a fast processor, this will be a speedy computer alright:).0 -
You really are getting a top spec PC here,
because it has the amd 64 bit chip you can be sure that this computer will be future proof, no way be out of date in a year.
and will run the new "Longhorn" operating system easily as an upgrade when it comes out.. and you will get the true 64 bit system.
Longhorne is useless without the 64 chip.
My uncle bought a pc from Lidl and always talks about what a good deal he got. and apperently their garantee's/warrenties are excellent. (dont be put off by the make, he's got the same)0 -
Just to add my tuppence worth,
I got the last Targa deal from Lidl, nothing like the same spec as this one, but it suits my needs. I think that it's a great machine. The (two year in my case) on-site warranty does give some degree of comfort if things go wrong.

MS is offering a free upgrade to XP x64 bit. If your machine qualifies, you can exchange your 32 bit version of XP to a free upgrade of the 64 bit version.
Be very careful if you are considering this. Once you have upgraded. You can't go back to your old version.
Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition Technology Advancement Program
The Technology Advancement Program is designed to assist customers who have acquired a new x64 computer with a previously licensed 32-bit version of Windows XP Professional (1-2 processor version), Windows XP Professional (1-4 processor version) and Windows XP Professional Reduced Media Edition (1-2 processor version). This program allows customers to exchange their license for Windows XP Professional (32-bit)for a license of the new version of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
