Alternative Christmas gift for 16 yo godson?

Hi there, have just spent the last two nights reading the threads and been very impressed and gotten some pretty good ideas. However....... I have a 16 year old nephew who is also my godson, my sister and I would be really close, I have always spent about 60 - 70 euro on him before, but he has absolutely everything, including money (he recently left school and started work in a well paid job, he now has more money than me!) He is allowed to drink a little by his parents, is into expensive aftershave (which I bought on sale for his birthday in October) doesn't need clothes, music or dvds (awkward little beggar, isn't he?) He has all the exercise equipment he needs and he also has a gym membership.
He is the All Ireland amateur boxing champ in his weight for the last three years running and has been to Denmark, Wales, Russia, Hungary, Azerbaijan and all over Ireland, so I was hoping some far brighter spark than me could think of a hamper that would reflect this. I really want to get him something special cos he is a lovely lad, really respectful and modest, works really hard and is a credit to his family, but I am absolutely stuck for ideas. I have budgeted €50 for his present, can anyone help? Thanks in advance, K.

I would go for experiences type presents.
For my cousin's 21'st my family gave him two vouchers for (not sure of its name) but being held aloft by a big fan.
For his sister's 21st we gave her a trial flying lesson.
Location wise they didn't have to travel far from the parental home in each case.
Don't know if there are companies that offer this in Ireland. If you are at a poker game and you cannot figure out who is the patsy then guess what...you're the patsy - Warren Buffet0 -
1) Pay for his provisional driving licence
2) get him a magazine subcription about something he enjoys
3) Voucher for fashion shop (ask his mum were he buys his cloths or better still ask him)
4) Driving lessons/ motor bike Lessons
5) Find nearest Go Karting track take him Go Karting
just a few things off the top of my head.0 -
For a hamper..............mmmmmmmm
If he is into fitness via his boxing then a subscription to Men's Health.
As he travels - a leather passpost cover
washbag filled with toiletries
tin of fruit sweets (can't think what they are called)
socks
For his 21st this year my son had a lovely silver keyring with his initials bought for him by his godparents. This is one present always in use and which he was so delighted with. You could do this but buy a luggage label instead.
Hope these suggestions may help. He sounds as though he would be pleased with anything you buy him.

Thanks so much, will def use a few of those ideas! I particularly like the luggage idea, but think he would prefer the experience one better. I can't do the driving test one cos his dad is a driving instructor and they pretty much have that one covered! (forgot to say in post). thanks a million, every body else is pretty easy to get for except him!!!Credit card €7892.36/€ 0

You could buy him a memory box?..
My friends daughter was very much into her ice skating and I made a memory box from a pine box (b & Q I think) and painted ice skates on the front. You could someone else to do this if you're not arty or take to a craft fayre where people engrave into wood? Lots of craft people do this (pygorphaphy I think its called) With his name - boxing gloves etc?
He could put old boxing gloves, photos, airline tickets, old passport (with stamps in the back), postcards of where hes been, tickets, a simple journal for him to fill in of his trips etc. etc.
oh if you go with the experience idea, Tesco have deals that you could use0 -

That is such a lovely idea!!:T I would never have thought of that. He has been boxing for the last seven years and his mum has kept photo albums, a scrapbook and loads of home made videos etc, add to this all his awards and trophies, the house is starting to look like a shrine to him (she doesn't want this as they have other kids) so she would prob be over the moon to have somewhere special to store all of his stuff. Thanks a million!!!!:jCredit card €7892.36/€ 0

Loving the memory box idea for teenage daughter actually, thanks for that inspiration!
18year old awkward godson to buy for too - he is only into his music, quite grumpy and 'misunderstood', bless him and I am at a total loss
The karting idea is great, I had not thought about the 'experience' stuff. Not sure his mum will approve, he is rather wrapped in cotton wool ... perhaps skydiving :rotfl: wicked woman that I am
Money leaves his pockets like water so perhaps a copy of Martin's teen MSE book! that would go down a storm, mind you he is studying finance so ... could be a good idea actually!
x Claire£3k back from Natwest:beer:, approx 29% saved on major debts due to Martin's tarting advice and LOTS more (inc weight loss too! ... Martin's a Marvel:j Long healthy good life, great times, and happiness :rotfl: x0
