Help! Hamper for difficult OH!

Hi all
I've had a quick search but couldn't really come up with much so have had to start this new thread - sorry
After reading the FABULOUS finished hamper thread and all the different ideas from the board I am doing hampers for nearly all my Christmas presents this year and have bought a lot of the stuff already. Now, I was showing it all to my OH and he asked if I was doing one for im - and seemed quite excited by it. Arghhhhh. He is the most difficult person to buy for EVER. Last year I overspent and bought him shed loads of stuff, hiding his 'proper' present til the afternoon (I bought him a dustbuster, men's grooming products, stocking fillers etc and he was not happy - another story anyway - I gave him his 'big' present in the afternoon - an Xbox 360- perhaps explains why we are in such financial difficulties now!). I've always bought him something quite major each Christmas but finances do not allow this now.
He has no idea what he wants - anything he does want he tends to buy (like the new Call of Duty 4 game out soon - would have bought him that for Christmas, but he's going to get it when it comes out grrrrr). So now I@m thinking of what to get him for a Christmas hamper. He has all the car stuff he could ever need, doesn't like reading, music he's not fussed with, loves beer and the xbox (he has got other endearing qualities btw lol!!) as well as our kids, but isn't very sentimental or anything like that.
So to get to the point and to stop waffling - has anyone any ideas as to what to get him??? He isn't keen on drinking out of beer glasses - drinks from the can and a hangover cure pamper is out as he's on the highest prescription painkillers anyway due to spine/back/hip problems.
So you can see my dilemma! I would buy him a racing experience if money were no object, but can't obviously (see sig!!).
Any ideas? A long shot I know....
Thanks!

A snack 'bucket' with snacks only for him would be nice - he doesn't eat sweets or chocolate, but is a big junk food addict lol

Does he play poker?...there was a thread for a poker hamper.
Do you shop in tescos?..how about using the tesco vouchers?....i got my sons and oh a ferrari drive last christmas and this year they have rally car driving0 -
How about some rental vouchers for your local Blockbuster or similar - that way he can have a month or so's worth of totally new gaming.
Add them to the snack hamper, and you haven't got the expense of buying new games, whilst he'll still get to play them.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
How about a 'naughty voucher book!'
I am giving one to my OH in his hamper this year I know he will love it and he will get to have all his favourite things!!
Naughty but nice

Life is sometimes a bit pants but occasionally you can wear your french knickers!0 -
if he likes films as well as games you can get good rental offers from online companies.
is there somewhere near you that he might like membership to? heritage site? cinema? theme park?
he likes racing - would he get any enjoyment out of a scaletrix?
on the beer front - a 'selection' pack of beers from around the world? membership of camra (real ale appreciation soc)?
or perhaps you could pool the money you would spend on each other and get a joint present - perhaps a weekend away if there is someone to look after the kids?
whatever you do, it sounds like the bottom line will be making him realise that money is tight, you cannot always afford big presents, paying the bills comes first, then the kids christmas - as a grown up, he should be able to rationalise making do with less, whereas your girls may not.
good luck, and let us know how you get on :beer:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
how about a quality time hamper, either with the kid or with you.
does not have to be expensive, could be an hour at the park (which would give you time to put you feet up/do the house work) a trip to the swimming baths, or the local museum, followed by a trip to the local fast food place (pigsback do vouchers for pizza hut)The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0
