Hi have been browing this web site and the ideas you have given me for hampers are amazing so wondered if you could help me with making a hamper for my mum who is 77 years old and is Germany.
I have bought some biscuits from Iydl but thats where my ideas come to a halt.

stollen, leberkuchen, you can get them both in LIDL ALDI,
a bottle of gleuwein? again aldi have this in closer to xmas...
How about some small wooden tree decorations... they always have them in the xmas markets here....
im sure i will come up with more....let me think..and have a flick through the supermarket leaflets that have just come through the door

You have to put a Stollen cake in there, some lieb, hock or other German wine, dry cured sausage/salami. Aldi or Lidl are great for things like this. Chocolate, marzipan sweets and gingerbread, there must be gingerbread!

you must have stollen and iced lebekuchen ( busicuts/cakes) satsumas, WOOD THInGS LIKE NUT CRACKERS OR A GERMAN XMAS PYRAMID that spins fromn the heat off candles,spice sausages, spiced biscuts, mulled wine.
(german grandmother who always did use goodie bags, a big buffet on boxing day and had the biggest xmas pyramid ive ever seen)0 -

stollen was my first thought. and leberkucken of course. a cuckoo clock (altho is this just bavaria?) my nan was deutsch and made us a cone shaped thing on the 1st day of school filled with presents - not sure if this is a tradition in your family or one your mum would know, but it could be an idea "holder" for all the items

I you live anywhere near birmingham their German market starts next month. Probably a bit pricey to buy stuff ffrom but great for some ideas! They've always got lots of those wooden toys and christmas decorations and mulled wine.Back Comping after a 2yr break! :j0
