2nd time mum hampers

Both my best friends are expecting within a month of each other. I want to put together a hamper for each of them, but as they are both 2nd time mums there is plenty that they have already. Are there any mums of more than one who can advise on what would be really helpful to give them?

Boy, 2nd time mums just need lots of pampering themsleves to get them through the first twelve months of a new baby and a toddler/young-un! I would have given anything for someone to buy ME something instead of the children! Lots of smellies, chocolate and a small tipple (for when breastfeeding finishes!)... and an IOU for some baby sitting to give mum just five minutes peace would be nice!!!!0

I think that you are right Looneyleo as they will have the 2nd each before their first turns 2! Do you think that it would be nice to put together a basket with something for new baby, something for big sister/brother and something for mum and dad in?0

My best friend did just that. There was a little present for each of the family, rather than a big present for baby. It was a really nice idea especially for Dad because no one thought of him at all, other than best bud! Afterall, the whole family has a part to play in this baby's life and it is nice that it is recognised! Would still gives loads of pampering things to mum though! Not that I'm biased or anything!!!!0

i would definatly recommend a pamper hamper for mum herself. like you said they will have a lot of the stuff from previously so a little hamper with slippers, bubble bath, body lotions, choccies and bottle of wine would go down quite nicely me thinks!!!0

Might sound boring but could you also put a meal in it, eg home made soup, chilli, casserole etc. Also a dessert like chocolate cake, home made food is good but not having to cook is fantastic for the mum. When a friend has a baby amongst our friends at church we all try to cook in turn delivering a meal for each evening, every night for 2 weeks or more if there is a special need. If you know her other friends could you organise them in a meal rota and put the list in the hamper. They won't need to cook at her home just deliver at an agreed time on the day they have offered for.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Thank you for all your replies, I think that I will do a hamper for all the family and also inclde something for the dad ( I forgot about him too!) and I like the idea of the home cooking, I could drop some round for them I remember what it was like trying to look after my newborn and eat, I rarely managed to eat!0

Don't do it all you obviously are careing try to get friends/neighbours/family involved. We pass a list of meals needed, eg tea Mon-Fri then people sign the day that fits their life. This way when the paper is in front of them they are more likely to commit to help. Usually people are willing especially those with children!!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Thank you Sethsgran, there are three of us that can do it between us, its no problem to do abit extra for tea as you say, am already sorting out lunch for them and little ones as they are both suffering terribly from morning sickness. Perhaps will drop round some frozen stuff before new baby arrives too, for emergencies!0

I would agree with getting something for the family especially the first child is a good idea and maybe a book about sibling rivalry and the best ways to cope with it, I am sure they will be plenty of books on the subject
nappy cakes look good too i have seen a few pictures on this board.:AEverytime a bell rings an angel his gets wings0 -
Thank you jorose, I'm just looking at books about that actually! I thought perhaps a big sister/brother t-shirt and a voucher for them to go out for the day with me and my daughter (to give new parents some times with new baby) would be good too0
