Up to 25% off at HMV for students online

Ok folks first you need to get hold of the student discount card from HMV shops so if your not a student grab a hold of one and frog march them inside to get one as you or at least I had to produce my student card to get it.

Hang around the local college / uni discretely if needbe, and be prepared to bribe if necessary as it will be worth it.

NEXT LOG INTO QUIDCO ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR DISCOUNT CARD AND ARE READY TO ORDER THEN GO TO THE HMV SITE FROM THERE - MAKE SURE YOU'VE CLEARED YOUR COOKIES IF YOU'VE VISITED HMV BEFORE NOW.

With the discount card, on first use when registering it online you will get 15% off your first order then 10% off any subsequent orders. You just need to stick the card number into the promotion code box (bottom right under your basket) and it will show your 15% discount after that, before proceeding to the checkout. The card number will then be stored in your account and each time you shop until the following September a 10% discount will be applied to each order. You will need a new card / number the following academic year.

By logging into Quidco you will get the following cashback to add to your student discount giving you up to 25% in total off your order.

10% for DVDs, CDs, books and accessories
5% for games and digital hardware & accessories
2% for consoles

This makes the discount :-

25% for dvd's cd's, books and accessories dropping to 20% - still pretty good.

20% for games, digital hardware and accessories dropping to 15%

17% for consoles dropping to 12% (I've tried a console in the basket at 15% and yes it works).

Useful for the immenent date with the man called Santa coming up.

Hope this helps and makes sense.

Might be worth holding off Poppycat, but if it's any help Gamestation I think also do student discount, but that's instore and I can't remember if they do it on consoles too, but might be worth giving them a quick phone.

Where do you live if you don't mind me asking (can't see any detail in your thingymajig at the left), as would it be worthwhile me keeping an eye out and posting one up to you? I'd quite happily do this if you want.

I managed to pick up a Wii pack for my friend yesterday at toys r us. Ok had to queue for it from around 8am as there was only 40 being delivered but I got one. She told her brother and he screamed arggggggggggggh or a selection of words to that effect, saying how he knows lots of folks up their end looking for one (They are in Rosyth / Dunfermline) and can't get them and I could've had half a dozen this week I recon, but I'm not greedy and only got the one my friend wanted.

Both gamestation and game had them instock last week although there is none left just now, but I could keep and eye out for you. Game alas don't do student discount on consoles though. Just software and accessories if I remember correctly.

Also keep an eye out on the HMV site and get the discount card in preparation just incase they get them back into stock.

Let me know what you want to do.
