eco presents

Options
I'm trying to give as many homemade and eco friendly presents for christmas this year, both to save money and spread the word. found some ideas in this book " a slice of organic life" at the library the other day. I've posted them on my blog if anyone wants a look (sorry too much to type twice!) any more ideas gratefully received!:D

Last year instead of sending cards I used Oxfams site and bought trees and a Goat for the third world. This year I will use again(also means I don't have to rely on Royal Mail. .

I've just recd this years brochure and you'll find something for everyone.

    Hi there

Just been over to look at your site and posted a comment about what I'm doing for my Mother and MIL. I'm determined next year to have a whole host of handmade pressies ready and am looking at whether I can make things using fruit, veggies and flowers from my garden. My family have all become obsessed with the idea that if you haven't forked out a fortune for something for them you can't love them very much so I'm determined to change their minds.

When I tried to get them to get some of my presents from World Vision's Alternative gift catalogue they were horrified. So what did I get last year? Make-up I never wear, perfume that smells like cat wee on me and books on how to where to buy the latest designers fashions.

All this for a person who tries to be ecologically friendly, grows their own fruit and veg, cooks from scratch, makes their own clothes and wears Jasmine essential oil as perfume.

Do you think they're trying to tell me I'm letting the 'side' down?!:rotfl:

Hi steel thanks for sharing the idea about the lap quilts, they sound great i think I'll borrow the idea if that's ok and make one for my nan. Its a real shame your family didn't appreciate the gifts you gave, don't give up though.I think its them thats letting the side down not you!!!

  • I know of a website that just sell eco friendly gifts I have already got loads of brilliant christmas pressies. They aren't too "off the wall" so to speak and they have some great educational stuff for kids.

My husband is a nightmare to buy for as he seems to buy himself the things he wants throughout the year despite my protests! www.ecotopia.co.uk have brilliant fun stuff I got him some glasses made from recyced beer bottles and I am going to get him an Oak tree as we get closer to Christmas which I know he will love. They sell grow your own tree kits with a year old sapling, a steak, a protective cover and information about the tree. Such a lovely interesting idea for a present.

Anyway I could go on but it is definitely worth checking it out they have absolutely loads of gift ideas. I should contact them and ask for a discount for all this amazing advertising I am doing for them!
