Had our OR Interview today

Hi Guys, We had the dreaded OR telephone interview at 10.00 am this morning and would you believe it lasted 1 hour 45 mins  honestly, 1 hour 45 mins, I thought he would never stop. He was very nice and polite as everyone said he would be but extremely thorough and wanted to know every little detail inside out, how, when and why. The good thing is we do not have enough surplus to qualify for an IPA yippee........ the bad thing is because both our taxi's are in my name they have a claim on one of them. Apparently, only one car is exempt from the bankrupt so the taxi my missus drives will be taken unless we pay what its worth a auction to the OR (around £1200). This is solely because its in my bloody name, if the car had been in my wifes name they couldn't have touched it. so remember folks if you have two cars make sure only one is in the bankrupts name. I know it sounds really flash to those who do not even have one car but these are taxi's and we make a living in them, I apologies if I have offended anyone I just think anyone considering BR should be aware. Apart from the cars and obviously the time it all took it wasn't too bad really,

Regards to you all

  • Well done Taib0,
I don't think you;ll offend anyone, its a good piece of advice, especially if someones in your situation.
I hope you manage to come up the the money to buy the taxi.
Glad the worst is over for you though, and as we all said, its not that bad really.
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(

Sorry to hear that the OR was a pain about your wife's taxi. Hope you manage to raise the money for it.

At least it's all over and done with now.

Another one glad to hear it wasn't shockingly horrid :) Bad news on the taxi - but, tis happened now, so no point in beating yourself up about it (that wasn't meant to sound flippant btw, more like what I say to myself constantly about the whole thing...). I really hope you can raise the money to keep it - if not is it possible you can raise enough for another car to use as a taxi or is a Black Cab and therefore shockingly expensive?

I saw an N reg Chinquenta today on my way to work for sale for £325 - not saying it helps you in anyway, it's tichy after all, but it made me go a) you *can* get v.cheap cars - hurrah! and b) how in the name of Mother can my car be worth enough for the OR to take LOL (v v beaten up, old and leaking Skoda). Perhaps your wife will get a win on the lottery and the taxi will be safe? :) Hope it sorts out ok, keep us updated :)

Thanks pixie, I am such a lucky guy really, my sister has been fabulous and I don't really know where we would have been without her, She has said as soon as the OR gives us a figure she will buy the taxi back for us. She is also waiting in the wings to purchase our "beneficial Interest" in the house so as to stop us being thrown out in 12 months. Thats a bit more drawn out as there are charging orders on the property from Lombard and the OR doesn't yet know what our exact equity will be. It is going to be around £15,000 i'sh, so my sister will raise the money in her name but we will pay the monthly payments. We will then be able to stay in our house which we have been in for 20 years, the kids love it here and of course its full of fond memories. If you Remember we didn't qualify for the dreaded IPA so we can easily afford to pay my sister the monthly figure for the loan, its the only debt we have now apart from our mortgage so things are looking bright for the first time in years,
    Regards,
