Eating Out In Enniskillen

Options
Hi,

my husband and I are taking the kids to Enniskillen this weekend. We have never been before and are staying in the towns youth hostel.

Our kids are quite young, so we would love any recommendations of somewhere we can grab dinner that is good for kids and quite reasonably priced.

Also any recommendations for places to entertain them would be great also.

Thanks

Lisa

If in town before 7 try Cafe Merlot on the High Street -good pre theatre menu and quite good value. I think World Waterskiing is on in Enniskillen this weekend too. Excellent - free museum in the Old Castle and a very good -helpful Tourist Info Office beside the Bus depot. Try fermanagh.gov.uk for more info. Would be interested in your impressions post stay! Have fun.

Yes, agree with above, John the owner is always doing his best to please, they have a childrens menu too.

Plus the cafe/restaurant is down stairs in a castle/dungeon like theme!!

The entrance is just beside the pub, William Blakes on the high street, easy to miss, just a plain doorway.
  • The wetherspoons is quite good & handy for parking. If you're out and about Lusty Beg's grub is lovely and not overly expensive.
  • Am so glad you asked this! We're going to a wedding in a couple of weeks -- just to the church bit, which is in Enniskillen, and then heading home -- and were wondering if we should get some food before heading back. :)
  • we are regulars down that way and can highly recommend the crows nest-on the main street down from woolworths-they treat kids very well, have baby changing facilities and have a nice pub menu and do evening meals aswell.hubby recommends the breakfast fry...its huge!!
also the bush bar is excellent for a meal-the steaks are superb!
sounds like were alcos,:rotfl: ,but its just we really like the atmosphere and being able to enjoy a drink which we couldnt do up here as the children are never made welcome anywhere other than macdonalds!! Enniskillen people LOVE kids and make it a very family atmosphere!
    enjoy your stay!

  • We can certainly recommend The Railway Hotel on Forthill Road (across from Dunnes). On our visits to Ekn we have had some superb meals in there and the staff are very friendly.

Well how did things go? Where did you eat and what did you think of Enniskillen?
  • We have actually had to put off our trip until next weekend, but I will be printing off this page and taking it with me.

I never expected suchb a fabulous response. Thanks everyone!

I can't wait to go now!

If anyone can recommend some activities for us that would be suitable for young children I would be even more grateful!
  • I can recommend a brilliant park to take them to right in the middle of Enniskillen-its beside the lakeland fourm ( swimming pool and soft play area...but i would'nt recommend the pool as its never been upto my standards of cleanliness!) the park in quite new so is really big and fenced in and has a section within it for the very young that makes it really safe and great to let them have some freedom! it has a large castle with various slides and a cable swing thing and basketball court if you bring a ball...and its all in the one fenced in area...great!!
We tend to bring a carrry out coffee, the paper and bickies and spend an hour or so there!
Also if you follow the signs for ''the round'o'quay'' it has a good park again fenced in,and its right on the lough so you can watch the boats passing and it has a coffee shop with seats outside right beside the park.you can also catch the waterboat tours from there-the lady of the lake- which is a nice way to spend a sunny day if the kids arnt too small to get bored too easily!
to get to the round'o you take the bridge thats sign posted for silgo but stay in the right hand lane and turn right at those lights then immadiatly left
and it sign posted for the round'o'quay..that sounds terribly complicated but makes sense once your there :rotfl:
Hope you get nice weather because that makes it so much nicer!
    have fun!laura.

Can you please elaborate a bit more about the cleanliness deficiencies of the Pool in Enniskillen. I used to go there a lot when I worked in Enniskillen and it was fine.
