Not Trapped Wind ?

For 6 days now ive had what i thought was trapped wind. I have tried everything that usually gets suggested and nothing has worked. I spoke to my gp who prescribed Lansaprazole but thats hasnt worked. All i want to do is burp but i cant , i feel like a great big burp is lodged in my upper chest .no pain ..Im not constipated , have taken some laxatives to make sure. I keep doing like little 'false' burps , but that feeling that i need to do one great big one wont go .. any suggestions ? I will be going back to gp , but im fed up with it lasting so long , what else could it be ?

This is not medical advice...this is what I do.

I get trapped wind quite a lot and use oil of peppermint capsules (H & B). Obviously like anything they can interfere with other medication etc. Or try some peppermint tea.
OH suffers with it badly but is physically unable to belch, so you can imagine where it comes out.......

As for what it could be otherwise, no idea!

  • Any ppi which Lansaprazole is one of can take a few days to get properly into your system. However if your still suffering see your GP.

i have had a hiatus hernia for years but take lanzoprazole every day and it pretty much keeps the symptoms under control but they do take a few days to work.. i also have very strong gaviscon for when its bad, try and see if u can identify a certain food or combination of foods that sets it off.. i have a problem with caffiene so cant have too much

also if u start getting severe painful attacks and i mean rolling around in agony type attacks query gallstones with yr dr cos i have had them as well and they cause similar problems

    good luck
