Having trouble with Welcome car finance and Brighthouse

Hi there I am new to this but am having major problems with Brighthouse and a few problems with Welcome Car Finance.
First of all Brighthouse, I signed up with them last year in June and got a washing machine, tumble dryer cooker and leather sofa. Had to pay £45 a week paid off cooker so had to pay £36 a week. I go into some diffculty in June this year and when I spoke to the manager of Peterborough store I was spoken too like I was a piece of poo was told that I was the only customer that didnt pay and they couldnt have customers like me on the books I put the phone down and my dad told me to tell them to come and pick them up so I did. I wasnt told when this would happen. well today 21/08 at around midday 2 ppl from brighthouse knocked at the door told me they were here to pick up the stuff 2 months after I told them to come and pick it up. I am now left with no sofa washing machine and tumble dryer. Had I had known they were coming I would have made different arrangements so I wouldnt be without these things(I have 4 children aged 11,10,7 and 3). Is there anyway I can dispute them taking the stuff or havent I got a leg to stand on I dont mind about the sofa or tumble dryer just the washing machine. Im sure that I have paid at least a third on tumble dryer and washing machine. Any help gratefully recieved.
Right now to Welcome
My brother got a car from them last year for me as I couldnt get credit with them(even though I have a personal loan with them). all payments are up to date but the problem is the attitude of the staff they ring all the time even when my brother is at work and they have been told my brother is at work. They come to the house and then charge £25 for the privilege even though I only live about 300 yards from the branch. When my brother asked for an early resettlement figure we were told it was going to be about £10000(I pay them £363 per month) they have told us that the interest was added on when we signed the agreement so no more would be added so what we dont understand is if you times £363 over 36 months it only comes to £13068.00 so when we recieved the early resettlement figure and it was in total before resettlement was £15568.00 how come the figures differ quite alot? Like I said at beginning any advice gratefully recieved.
Sorry its such a long post but need help.
Thanks

Oh dear peachie - looks like you are going through the mill at the moment. :grouphug:
It seems as if you've chosen the worst possible creditors to fall out with. I have not had any experience of Brighthouse, but Welcome Finance are well known on these boards. It would appear that they have 'front-loaded' the interest and added a hefty charge for early settlement.
I think that you should take stock of the situation and have a chat with one of the Debt Counselling Charities, such as CCCS, National Debtline or the Citizen's Advice Bureau - you can find links to these on the DFW toolbar.
In the meantime, why not post your SOA (Statement of Affairs) listing your income, normal expenditure and debts, so that we can give you some more specific help.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

The amounts you were paying for your domestic appliances you could buy a new second hand one every month! Check out ebay local papers for a second hand one for the meantime.
Brighthouse I have not dealt with but are starting to crop on here a lot. Trouble is they do hire purchase so you don't pay the goods are taken. You need really to speak to a professional like the CAB I think more them as you can see them in person.
I am not sure what to say about welcome they are really one of the hardest companies to deal with so chuck it all in with CAB and see what they say. When you ring explain to them you need to see a debt counciler to make sure you speak to teh right person the CAB is staffed with volunteers but they do tend to specialise in different areas.0 -
Hi
Have a look a uk.freecycle.org to see if someone near you is giving away anything you need. You can also post wanted messages.
The idea behind is that people can dispose of their unwanted goods for free and it helps the environment too as it doesn't all end up in landfill.
You'd be surprised what you find on there.

They are two nasty companies to deal with, the freecycle idea is a good one or local charities.Barclaycard 3800

Don't forget that with an HP agreement as your car loan almost certainly will be, you are entitled to return the car once you have paid half of the money due - and that includes any deposit that is stated on the HP agreement. That is a legal right and not something that Welcome can offer or refuse. You need to make sure the car is not damaged. If you go down that route take photos to prove it is in a decent state.
This does not extend to any part of the agreement for PPI insurance but lenders should not be adding these 'single premium' insurances onto credit agreements these days.
You do end up with no car at the end of it all but it will get you out of your credit agreement at no further cost0
