I have just used Glasses Direct, and was very impressed. I got my eyes tested at the Optician, got my pupil-to-pupil distance measured (important so that your glasses will fit properly) and took my prescription away. No problem with this at all, just said I didn't have time to choose glasses then. Now the happy owner of two pairs of glasses, one pair with Transitional lenses which were £17 frames + £40 for the transitional lenses, and an £17 pair for spares.
I phoned my order through, though as I wasn't quite sure what all the squiggles on the prescription were, and they were very helpful. Took about 2 weeks, and they phoned to see if I was happy.
Would recommend them. :Tcoffeebean0 -

Have a look as well at https://www.spexmaniac.co.uk - another great site - I've just had my glasses delivered the quality was excellent and the service was great. No complaints here  :beer:0 -
Just received my first pair this week using the internet and a site mentioned here earlier
http://optical4less.com/index.cgi
Took just 2 weeks from order to delivery, from Hong Kong. Perfect fit, just give them "pupil distance" - have not found any adjustment necessary.
Rimless cost me £26.0 -
how do u know they will suit u if u can't try them 1st. am very wary cos having complex lenses i cannot tell what they look like anyway with no lenses in, & before getting a digital camera to take my own photo had to take my mum's advice (which went horribly wrong once!!)Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!0

You buy a pair that is a similar shape to one that already have and suits you. If you don't know what suits you go to somewhre like specsavers which has a camera so you can get a look at yourself wearing four different pairs of glasses, pretend you are going to buy some then at the last minute claim that you've got to get your husband, daughter, mother etc to check before you buy them.
btw I notice that purplehorse has an awful lot of posts about spexmaniac.0 -
The reason is that I have never ordered anything from the internet before and was apprehensive about buying glasses as I have always gone to an optician. I am so pleased that I can't help blowing my trumpet about it.0
