I think you will be pleasantly surprised how quick the antibiotics work... but a WARM salt mouthwash or an antiseptic one shouldnt do any harm...I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0

a mouthwash of soluble painkillers can help sometimes.
take the tablets though and theres always the emergency dentist if it gets too much for you. Of course pulling a tooth that has an abscess under it is excruciatingly painful but the relief afterwards is almost orgasmic

There is an old wives tale that says if you put a used tea bag on the abcess and leave it there for a while it will draw the puss out. I gather this would only work if you can put the teabag on the inside of your cheek!
My sister has tried this and it did reduce the abcess

I'm a dentist.......hopefully the ab's will be kicking in now.
Whatever you do don't hold soluble aspirin near it - all you will get is a nasty burn.
HTHWhether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0
