  • Me too Fran, this morning - how's it going? Can't really think where to start as I'm 56, live alone, have mortgage etc. Need to get my thinking cap on, life still to live!!!

    Hi Elizabeth,

I would suggest that you go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau who can look at your overall situation and check that everything is being sorted out that should. To find your nearest one click on Here. Citizens Advice Website. If you have any particular questions, you may get some help by posting on here too.

  • Thanks Fran, don't find a problem with knowing my entitlements etc. will obviously claim job seeking allowance - but big difficulty is deciding where to go from here. Jobs are not so easy to come by at my age even though I have lots of experience in PR, sales and admin etc.

The other thought of course is the opportunity to change direction while needing to stimulate income. Any input for business ideas welcomed.

What have you done since your redundancy.

    Hi Elizabeth,

I wasn't made redundant, it was Gadget Freak. I started this thread because he posted somewhere else and I thought it would be of interest to people who read this board. If you click on the link in my first post you'll see what happened to him.

What sort of business ideas are you thinking of?

I agree that jobs are harder to get as you get older, they don't seem to have the respect for experience that they used to (often to their own cost).

Perhaps you could do some kind of training?

the link just takes me to the forums lists - is it supposed to go to a certain thread?
  • As the discussion was from 2004, I doubt the post exists any longer. Was there some specific advice you were after?
