Quick help please re fabric softener

Hi
I've been searching the forums but couldn't find this question.
Can you use old/unsuitable hair conditioner in the washing machine diluted as a fabric softener? I've got a nearly new bottle which really doesn't suit my hair and no one else wants it. It's such a shame to throw it out (and not very OS)
Please could one of you knowledgable people help me out here!!

You can also use it instead of shaving foam etc if you shave your legs. Works brilliantly0

I have used the budget hair conditioner as fabric conditioner and it worked fine - does not leave quite such a smell. I also use it for shaving legs and underarms.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hair conditioner is good for soaking lace in to soften it before wear
Have also used fabric conditioner on my hair when I've run out of hair conditioner. Brilliant result and spring fresh :rotfl:Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -

I have used hair conditioner to soften itchy wool before now (well wool is the hair of a sheep afterall! :rotfl:
I imagine it would work in the washing machine but I would dilute it well just incase it left deposits on your washing!
I have used it for shaving underarms etc as well0 -
I cant add any advise, but thanks to all the above suggestions. Its opened my eyes to a few things what other methods are available to use hair conditioner for.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0

You could also use vinegar as softner... I use 4 cups of vinegar, 1 cup of bicarb, 4 cups of water, 10 drops of essential oil of your choice, mix it up and I use a capful in each wash.
I found my clothes were starting to feel 'coated' in something from using softner so now I just make my own and it works for me.
PS... add the vinegar slowly to the bicarb as it will fizz, then add water, then add eo. I keep mine in an old softner bottle.£2 Savers Club joined 24/09/07, saved so far £8.00 :T
