Just been to my new Tescos four bottles of Ernest and Julian Gallo wine for £5.47. :beer:

Maybe an opening offer as yes it is a new store, Mansfield
To be honest l was supprised when l saw it as the bottles were very dusty.

Actually thinking about it, it did'nt say opening offer or anything, it was with the normal wine marked half price was 11.99

afaik...that is under the level of duty on a bottle of wine. I thought that circa. £2 was the lowest a bottle could go to because of the slice the government takes.
Although...that brand of wine was available as a four pack for a while, maybe it is those. Not seen one for ages.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

They wouldn't be £1.37 each or the total would be £5.48 (Tesco doesn't have vat rounding issues or similar that would cause this)
Either the bottles were not all the same price or a multi-buy of some sort kicked in. (or both)
As for the duty - £1.37 is not below the level charged but that doesn't actually matter anyway - it will already have been paid to customs & excise at the correct figure before the bottles made the shelf - what the wine is then sold for just determines whether a profit is made or not.
