Hi, I have nearly finished my training with the cab. If anyone would like any advice on the way that the cab deals with debt or any advice, if I don't know then I will find out for you.
I hope I can help because I know that it can be near impossible getting an appointment with the cab at times due to the huge demand for its help

Thats a very kind offer.
I'm just wondering if you offer the same services as say the CCCS, ie DMP's or whether you advise clients to go to someone like that? :think:0 -

Clients that come to see us with debt (majority of our workload) we help them fill out an expenditure sheet and find out what the client has left and will negotiate with the creditors to freeze the interest and to accept a payment what the client can reasonabily afford.
We also advice on bankruptsy and IVA's . I am training to be a general adviser and my role would be to help the client with the expenditure sheets, but we do try and advise clients to go down the self help routes if they are happy to do it, because the specialist debt workers are really busy. If the cient wants the cab to negotiate with creditors then we pass their case on to the debt advisers. I am not sure whether the debt workers refer clients to other agencies, will have to find that one out.0 -

Thanks always - proffessional and non-judgemental advice is ALWAYS welcome. :beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Southernscouser I asked at the cab whether debt case workers refer debts on to other agencies, and they don't. The cab gets funding to deal with the debts themselves.0

Hi
I am a CAB advisor too, we do refer clients to other debt agencies if the specialist worker's appointment list is full. If the debt advisor is not able to take on any more clients, general advisor can negotiate payment plans etc. However, his can be very time consuming ( as you know) therefore it is sometimes better to refer clients to CCCS and other agencies as it can be a quicker route to manage the problem.SSB

It must depend on the area then, which is in interesting0
