Options
Hi there all ya lurverrly moneysavers!!!

I am hoping you can help me.... again! I am searching for a large slow cooker and cheap! I have seen the morphy Richards digital one, (model 48730, stainless steel with did timer) for £34.97 with free dielivery on Amazon, which is good, but was wondering if anyone knew of one cheaper? Or one just as good thats cheaper? Any reccomendations are welcome too!

I am in desperate need for one you see as i work full time and have 2 boys, 6 and almost 2. By the time myself and the uvver arf get in from work after picking up youngest from nusrery etc, its gone 6pm and i dont have time to make any decent meals, as they go to bed at 7.30-8.00 ish and we would prefer to spend time with them instead of cooking!

I am eager to use the slow cooker thread and get cooking so any help or advice would be Gratefully received,

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Feisty!

I have the Morphy Richards 6.5 litre oval one and it is great. Sounds like a good price if it is the 6,5 litre.

You definitely need one which has a removable cooking pot as they are much easier to keep clean, but I expect most of the big ones are like that. I have a Tefal, don't use it a huge amount, but be warned if you get one of those that the knob on the lid will melt if you put it in a proper oven! At least the old ones do.

Worth looking in local free papers and also places like Cash Converters if you have one near you. It's the kind of thing people don't always get on well with.

I have had 3 with the glass lids where the lid shattered into millions of pieces for no apparent reason. I finally bought one with a ceramic lid from Cas Converters for £5 and its much better.

My friend had one bought for her for Christmas - a Breville Anthony Worrel Thompson type which, as she is out at work all day, she just lets it get on with the job and swears by it.

Oval shaped, 4.5 litre capacity, three heat settings, brilliant for stews, curries, soups and casseroles. Not sure if she has tried this yet, but she states you can cook a whole chicken in it. You can even cook deserts in it. I belive the removable cooking pot and the lid are dishwasher proof, and it comes with a recipe book.

    OR

They have it on page 809 of the current Argos brochure at £29.99.

    Hope this helps.
