I had an ECG yesterday as my heart is missing a beat. Was told it is normal and could be caused by my medicaition and they are not sure.
About an hour later my calf became really itchy and when I went to scratch it about 2 inches of a vein was very very blue and swollen. It stayed swollen for about 5 mins then went down. Now I have a massive bruise there. Anyone have any experience of this at all? I don't have varicose veins btw.

think you are being overly anxious.
dvt: usually a hot tender swollen calf - would remain like this.
read about it on patient.co.uk0 -

I would still get that checked out, Karrie, if you did not bang your calf or anything - just to be on the safe side. I mean, bruises do not tend to appear for no reason. :-):A I love MSE!!! :A0

I get this quite a lot. Is v scary first time it happens as looks like huge build up of pressure under skin before disippating into large bruise. I'm on steroids etc though and it's been put down to this. (Have had blood clots on lungs before so first time it happened I assumed exact same as you - even thoughy on 10mg warfarin daily at that time) Best see your GP to put your mind at rest though. kx0

Thanks guys. I ended up ringing NHS direct and she thinks I may have been bitten. I definitely didn't bang it against anything. I think what scared me most was seeing a vein just swell like it did. It was really ugly. It came out of nowhere and the first I knew was when I went to scratch my leg. Then a huge bruise. Anyway, I'm still alive
Thanks for all your replies. Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get
