motability and BR ????

I have a mobility car for my daughter who is disabled , the 3 year contract is up soon does anyone know if I can still apply for another car when BR ? I know it is financed through motability but not sure if it goes on my credit rating or not ... worried sick now ....

My understanding is that it is not awarded on your credit scoring as it is classed as a 'fleet car' although I'm unsure as to whether you are able to apply for one whilst still undischarged. Are you actually entering a credit agreement? Or is it a lease agreement as I think there are different rules

The best thing to do is to phone Motability and ask them about it. My OH has a car through them and checked with them before we went BR. Don't worry yourself sick, phone them and put your mind at rest - they were very nice to him and weren't in the least shocked or judgemental.
The very best advice I can give is to phone them up. :)
  • Many thanks will do ...

I'd agree...rang motability finance myself before I declared BR in march they had no issues & neither did the OR & i've just taken delivery of my new lease car at the end of april after my 3 years ended on my last car

We declared Br in March, due to pick up a new motability car in July.OR has NO interest in the motability car. Motability were fine as well, although they did say maybe I should ask the OR to send a lettter to motability, just to cover ourselves.

I did ask the OR to send details...they declined said they didn't see the point as it wasn't needed so I sent a covering letter & copy of BR notice myself just to be on the safe side

although to add the OR did say he might question if we paid a deposit towards another lease car (luckily I drive an auto and most on motability contract lease are nil for my needs anyway)

OR said nothing to us about deposits etc.Luckily the mother in law would pay that for us anyway.
  • the motability scheme is totally unreliant on your creditworthiness.
the only time you may encounter difficulties is if at the end of your 3yrs you have charges to pay for excess mileage,or wear and tear thats excessive.in thise circumstances you would need to make an arrangement with motability operations
