Engagement Ring for Him?

Hi

My b/f has just proposed & we are intending to get engaged on 26th May. We are on a tight budget and I wouldn't feel comfortable spending anything more than £100 on a ring. To be honest he could give me a ring pull and I would wear it with pride.

I've had a good luck at rings for me & have seen loads that I like for anything from £40 - £80 but I also want him to have a ring. I know it doesn't happen very often but he's quite chuffed at the idea and I thought what with equality and all if I'm going to have one then so should he.

What I didn't realise was that it would be quite hard to find!!! We obviously don't want something that resembles a wedding band too much but we also want something quite simple.

Does anybody have any ideas about where you can buy 'cheap' simple but stylish rings for men?

  • i know you said you want him to have an E ring but first make sure that when he gets his wedding band he will still wear the E ring or it really isnt the best place to spend money!

how about a band with a small diamond? most of the mens rings are just bands so will look a bit weddingy!

i can recommend mens wedding rings from https://www.aris-titanium.com titanium is virtually indestructable too!

There's a shop near us called Ortak that do some nice guys rings. I genuinely don't know the price of them, but I think they may be reasonable (they sell ornaments etc. in this shop) - they do ones with Celtic designs / Claddagh designs or just plain ones .... what does he like? Some football clubs also do them?

    Congratulations!!

I have friends who did this. They settled for silver/platinum engagement rings and gold wedding rings. He wears both all the time, as does she.

An idea (to cut costs) would be to get the simplest of rings for him but put your mark on it by engraving your own message inside.

    Just a thought.

the only thing with getting engagment rings and wedding rings if the hardness of the metal is different. Like as mentioned above Platinum engagement ring and a gold wedding ring, then over a period of time the harder ring with wear out the softer one. If they are both worn at the same time.

Congratulations on your engagement. Can I ask why you want your fiance to get a ring too? I'm all for equality in relationships too (my fiance says I'm more feminist than her) but engagement rings for men are pretty unusual and neither of us thought that a ring for me would be appropriate. The only person I know who had one was my cousin and I think he was quite glad to be rid of it when his engagement ended.

I'm not trying to be negative here but you might have trouble finding something suitable.

have u seen this? someone else with the same question:

I like titanium rings as well and think its up to the couple to decide if the man wants to wear one or not, don't see why its a problem at all. In fact, I think its really romantic, after all if a woman wears one as a "symbol of their love/future etc" why shouldn't the man? He might want the world to know "i'm engaged to be married" and use the ring as a symbol of it. Really is up to the individual, some men don't like wearing jewellry or are traditional about these things. Hope you find something you both like!

Hi and thanks for the replies. Yes he will continue to wear it once we are married and to be honest hadn't thought about different metals wearing each other down. So that's another thing to think about!!!

I do like the titanium rings, so much so I think I'll have a look for myself too

I can understand some people thinking that it seems silly but I'm really proud that he wants one too, by wearing an engagement ring I'm going to be showing the world that I'm in love and devoted to my b/f so why can't he show the same??
