Does anyone have a low fat recipe for coronation sauce?
I used to made a high fat one years ago, but can't remember what I used to put in it now. I do miss it. Heinz did one for some time, but discontinued it about 2 yrs ago. Then again, even that wasn't low fat.

The Coronation Sauce I make I usually serve hot. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but here goes.
1 onion (chopped)
1/2oz butter
1tbsp curry powder
12oz jar mango chutney
1lb greek yogurt
3tbsp mayo
2tsp tomato puree
Cook onion in butter until soft. Stir in curry powder and cook, stiring for 1 min.
Add chutney and heat through. Stir in yogurt, mao and puree.
Heat until almost boiling.
I then usually toss through some left over chiken or turkey. Heat and serve with boiled rice.

Here's my recipe...
250g/4oz low fat Fromage Frais OR
250g/4oz mayonnaise or light mayonaise
2 level tbsp curry paste
50g/2oz mango chutney
1 fresh mango OR
175g/6oz canned mango
Just mix all together and add chicken/tuna/pasta or whatever
Looks like you might still be able to get the Heinz stuff by post!

I'm sure it would be OK cold providing you cooked it all out first and then chilled it. I have used left over hot coronation chicken as a sarnie filling and it is yummy. The the sauce created for the Queen's Coronation (hence the name) was uncooked and similar to Allexie's recipe but using curry powder instead of paste. The taste of raw curry powder is a bit unsophisticated now but in the 1950's it was trez chic. I would recomend cooking is using powder and paste is fou want to mix 'n' eat.Life's a beach! Allexie, I contacted Heinz direct and begged and pleaded for them to find some hidden stock, after they told me they discontinued it about 2 yrs ago.
Got a real "curt" reply back, saying we "don't do it anymore ...............so there!"
Not the reply I was expecting. I asked them to check their warehouse , they declined.
When I asked if there might be any "Laying" around as old stock in shops, the reply came back "God if there is I wouldn't eat it"
Enough said !................. lol

PMSL @ LLillie. I bet they thought "Ween gorra right one ere":rotfl:
Couldn't you point out that it would be financially more attractive to relaunch Coronation Sauce that to change all their other product labels to read 56 Varieties?Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
