Avocados-cholesterol

Might have spelt that wrong-anyway-I believe they are high in fat,but are they high in bad colesterol? Always thought they were,but watched a tv prog the other day said they were low in colesterol.

    Avocados are high in monounsaturated fat and are reputed to actually lower your 'bad' LDL cholesterol.

    I may be wrong, but I don't think a food can be high or low in cholesterol. It is more to do with the effect it has on cholesterol in the body and as CVID says avocados lower the bad stuff.

    They are like nuts - high in fat, but healthy at the same time ;)

    If you google avocado and cholesterol there is quite a lot of information available. From reading here and here it appears that avocados will help to lower cholesterol. Good news for me as I love avocados!

    I bought some Avocados last night - they were whoopsies at Sainsbury's - I'll be making a wonderful salad with them. They are a 'healthy' food as long as your don't overload on them. Do them with brie and salad in a wholemeal bun/bread.
