I've Done It!!!

Well as of 12.20 PM I'm officially DEBT FREE :j :j

Turned up at 10am as instructed and there were 5 of us wishing to submit our petitions. First come first served basis so it was about 10.45 when I got to see the clerk.

The clerk was lovely, very friendly and helpful. I submitted the application to have the court fees waived and while she was getting that authorised I was on tenderhooks and the situation got the better of me for a few minutes. She then went through the form with me....no mistakes!!! She explianed the what would happen next, who would be informed & I paid the £325.

Next I went to see the judge. He was very officious & his opening comments were 'so you're in a mess'. He then just basically asked if I'd sought advice & did I want him to sign off the petition. I was in and out of the court chambers in less than 3 minutes.

Picked up my certificate.....no 276 of 2007 and off I went. Popped into the bank and informed them but they said that as it is a basic account and they hadn't been in my list of creditors that my account won't be closed down.

So plans for tonight are to have a very large stiff drink or two!!!

Big thanks to all of your for your support and guidance I really don't think I would have got there without you.

    Congratulations Red and Maria,

I think of it like studying for a degree; the court hearing is your first year exams, the O.R interview is your second year exams and your discharge is passing your finals :)

An IPA is repaying your student loan, and an BRU/BRO is like failing your finals miseably and having to spend a little more time studying before you can graduate :(
