Ways to lower LA fitness membership?

A friend and I have been quoted £33 per month each for a joint membership. The problem is that, due to health reasons, neither of us would be using the gym and really only want membership for the pool and yoga classes (if there's one suitable). I wouldn't want to sign a year contract because there are times when I would be unable to attend for several weeks at a time. I can't use public pools as the water is too cold and doesn't agree with my condition.

Does anyone know of any other way I could get them to lower the price?

I was wondering if there would be any point writing to them explaining the situation rather than getting it through gym staff who are gearing for commission?

Thanks for reading.

I tried this with them after being in a similar situation to yourself. I didn't want to get bumped in my local council run sports centre pool so asked about fees just to use the pool at the gym and they said no. Guess your local one might be different, guess if you don't ask you don't get? Give it a go and see what happens. Good luck.

You can use Tesco clubcard vouchers which gives you 4 times their face value!

Thank you so much choccyface! My friend and I are both very happy to hear that :T One of the gym bunnies offered us £30 each, cancel anytime membership but that's still more than I'd like to spend considering the risk of me missing half the month on a regular basis. Think I'll still write to them and ask if they can reduce it any further :D

i wold deffo get it in writing that you can cancel anytime since la fitness are one of the worst gyms for enforcing the 12 month contract
  • You can take a payment holiday, I had a couple of months off and there was no problems they were really nice to deal with.
