Hello all
when we moved into this house, theres nets at most of the windows & they look liike they have never been cleaned.
Ive put one through the machine, but its come out the same. We have a houseful to do and they are grey and SOOOOO gross.
Anyone got any good, cheap and tips for getting this job done?

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I've always used Glo-White but I'm sure someone will come along with an OS (and cheaper) versionEnjoying an MSE OS life0

I used glo-white for 9 years, putting the nets in the bath and soaking them, and they always came up really well.
However, last year, I simply couldn't be bothered, so I stuck them in the washing machine on a very low temperature; lo and behold, they didn't look clean and, moreover, they started ripping when put back up.
So I had to go and buy new net curtains. Wouldn't therefore recommend putting them in the washing machine at all (although I bet loads of people have had no problems)
When I went to buy new net curtains, the lady in the shop told me to soak them in the bath with glo-white ......
A stardrops soaking solution might also do the trick ... but I haven't had my new ones long enough to find out yet!
Also; if you need to buy glo-white, I can recommend Wilkos for being v. cheapThat's Numberwang!0 -

Hello lynzpower
If the nets are the only item in the machine, they won't be agitated enough to get a thorough wash.;) Put a white towel in with them, to help with agitation.
Run the nets in a water only wash, to rinse the dust off first. Follow up with a wash using Persil automatic powder..............and you should see a big improvement in their appearance.
Let us know your resuts, (if you follow my advice) I'd be interested to know if you're happier with the results.

I am soaking some net curtains in stardrops solution as I type.......... not sure whether to put them in the machine as they have been handmade (came with the house). Will give them a good swoosh in the bath and let you know how they turn out! That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0

Try soaking them in denture tablets - should bring them up glowing white.:hello:0

Hi
First soak the nets in the bath in cold water and the strained juice of two lemons. This is to float the dirt particles off the material, it also has a mild bleaching effect. Then wash in warm water.
Good luck with whatever method you decide to try.

Thanks lynz for asking this question! Our nets are looking pretty yuck at the moment, so need to get cleaning! I was going to just put them in the machine and hang them out on a sunny day (sunlight apparently helps with whites!), but I'll try them in the bath with glo-white, but 1 question - is that just glo-white, or with washing powder?
Maybe once we've cleaned our nets, we should swap photos and see how white they get!!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109
