www,thisisexeter.co.uk This is the web address of our local newspaper...................then search doc
Exeters favourite road sweeper gets Cathederal Funeral
In my opinion it is an interesting story about a well known sweeper/bin man know as Doc
Well worth the reading. On winning a national award presented by our then Lady Mayor he gave her a romantic hug and a kiss. There is nowhere localy to accomodate the expected mourners other than Exeter Cathederal.Funerals at this location is historicaly for dignitries, politicians etc.I have heard rumours that The Queen and Duke are coming. Many people think this could be one of his pranks and he will jump out of the coffin and say "I just wanted to see who would come to my funeral" It is expected to be attended by hundreds of Harley Davidson bikers,Satans Slaves and traffic ,shops, buses take the day off.
Any Mourner can expect something not experienced at a funeral in this venue. It would not be unexpected to hear unprompted singing of "for he was a jolly good fellow" and "Three cheers for Doc"

Already film crews from far afield as Germany have booked Hotel accomodation to record and report on the occassion.I have heard tales that The Motorbike fraternity are planning to park outside the Cathederal ignoring yellows. It is also expected a calvocade escort of bikers to accompany Doc to his almighty burn up after the ceromony. If this is one of his April Fools tricks he better not leave it too late to spring the lid.

The HB coupon likely will scan as the one on Monday does fine ...

The other item is actual NEWS ... I know I know ... very unlikely for a Newspaper thread ... but there you go .... ;)

  • Hi, first time poster here. I was just wondering what the deal is with the money off coupons in the newspapers. Do you actually have to buy the product that it states or could you just self-scan it at tescos and use it to buy groceries?

    Thanks in advance,
    Richie

Hi Richie. Welcome to the site!

For most coupons, the cashier will scan them even if you haven't bought the product. In most Tesco stores they will allow you a maximum of 10% off your total shopping bill using vouchers for items that you haven't actually bought.
  • Thanks jo_b, will give it a try

my tesco allow 50% my normal shop is about 25% vouchers but i used near 50% recently and it was fine...there are t&c's - no internet/printed vouchers, no duplicates, they must stock the item & it must be within its valid from date.
worth asking at the till what your store policy is as my cs are never sure and say till folk are more up2date

In fact the official Tesco policy as received from their customer service department via email (yes, I'm printing out copies of the email to take with me on every single shopping trip to Tesco;) ) says "with regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product."" :T :T :T

Interpretting this you could in theory purchase items just over the value of the coupon (in this case £2.50), present the coupon goods for virtually nothing :rotfl: . Perhaps we should all send emails to Tesco so we are all armed with their official Policy response. (if anyone's interested email address is online@tesco.com).

I Find Not Being Greedy And Using Just A Few Coupons Per Visit Mean The Cashier Does Not Mind Taking Them And And There Is Not Any Fuss If You All Use To Many 1. The Firm Who Supplied Them, Stops (no More Coupons 2. Tescos Will Not Take Them With Out You Buying The Goods So Use Within Reason Then You Do Not Ruin It For Every One
