Sorry in advance, I am so thick...
Got our organic box delivered this weekend, and there is an item in it I have never seen before! It is quite little about the size of a big cooking apple, covered in a thick light green "skin" kind of like a very tightly packed cabbage. It has 4 or 5 shoots with leaves coming out of the top, they look like turnip leaves. It is definitely a root vegetable of some sort... I think.
Does anyone know what it is?!!

Thanks, but no that is not it! (I know what an artichoke looks like now though!)
If you picture a small turnip with it's leaves on, but instead of the yellowy skin it has green thick cabbage like skin.
I am so embarrassed, it is probably a very common item! I am ashamed to say I gave it to my mum to deal with so can't send a pic!0 -
Is it kohl rabi? Trying to insert a pic for you but there are plenty on Google.:j New Year, New You = 1.5lb/12lb:j0

I love kohl rabi cooked simply - peeled, cut into small chunks, boiled or steamed and then tossed in a little black pepper and butter. Yum!Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0
