Tackling Climate Change - what Scotland, the UK - and you - can do:
Sunday, 11th March, 3.00 pm - 4.30 pm

Tackling Climate Change is now even more important. The recent report
by the economist Nicholas Stern, and the latest report from the
world's leading climate change scientists, have underlined how the
threat from global warming is becoming even more serious.

As your local representative in Parliament, I'm organising a meeting
(full details below), along with some of my colleagues in Parliament,
to find out what you think about the latest proposals from the UK and
Scottish governments for a "Climate Change Bill" - a law which aims
to make sure that the UK and Scotland actually puts into effect the
big drop in the emissions of greenhouse gas emissions which are
causing global warming.

This will be a chance to find out more about the proposals, which are
expected to be published in the next few weeks, and to let us know
your views about them. This is part of a consultation exercise taking
place throughout the UK. Your views will be submitted as part of that
consultation process, and we would very much value your opinion.

In addition, this meeting will also be an opportunity to ask
questions and have your say about other aspects of environmental
policies in Scotland, and there's also be a brief introduction to the
Stern report and the recent report from the world's climate
scientists.

Last, but not least, there'll be an opportunity to find out more
about what individuals and local communities can do to play their
part in the efforts to combat climate change and to protect the
environment.

There'll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, discuss the
issues, and meet other people who share your concerns. I am keen to
have a dialogue with local people on these issues. I hope you will
come along - and if you can circulate this email to anyone else who
might be interested, please do so.

The event is free, but it would be appreciated if you could register
in advance, by sending an email with your name and address to
